School's Out... well almost

Yesterday was the last day for seniors at NMHS. For me a farewell to a group I've only known for 10 months or less, but that I nevertheless treasure. The valedictorian list for the valley includes several of my current theater students and former soccer players (Heidi NMHS, Jessie NMHS, Ema PHS, Ana SMHS). Congratulations to them.

This also marks the "end" of my soccer career - no longer coaching, no longer refereeing, and aside from watching (WORLD CUP STARTS THIS WEEK!!!!), I am out.

Theater continues apace. A cast list went up for a Summer Workshop, new this year to NMHS. We have five productions slated for 2006-2007, starting with the workshop in mid September. We are still selecting a script for that, since we selected a company before picking a piece. We will produce A Midsummer Night's Dream in mid November, probably Antigone in late February, a senior directed production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is slated for mid March, and we will close the season with two weekends of what we hope will be Pirates of Penzance in the April/May transition. We also plan on being part of Improv Festival in September, Regional Acting in February, and State Conference in April, holding our Second Annual Short Scenes night in mid May and inducting new members to our Troupe at the end of the year.

This summer will include some home remodeling and a chunk of time spent in support of Bill Sherman's campaign for the WA legislature. I plan on being with his effort for a chunk of July while Jen externs at PAWS in Lynnwood, WA.

Maybe by not being in town during July 4th weekend, I can avoid gaining another DOG!!! :)

More later
